data-id=\"220\">MFD32<\/a>\u00a0,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/canchecked.com.au\/?page_id=234\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"234\">MFD32S<\/a>\u00a0, MFA28 and all vehicle-specific File\u201d (Gen1) or \u201cCan Bus\u201d (Gen2) you activate \u201cCan Term\u201d and select the appropriate Can Bus speed (usually 500kbps \u2013 alternatively, consult the documentation from the control unit manufacturer or change it yourself. if it is a freely programmable one).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Existing Can Bus<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img class=\"wp-image-4690\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>If you insert the display into an existing Can Bus, you&nbsp;<strong>deactivate<\/strong>&nbsp;the 120Ohm resistor in the display (Gen1: Menu =&gt; \u201cTRI File\u201d or Gen2: \u201cCan Bus\u201d =&gt; \u201cCanTerm\u201d).&nbsp;Here, too, you have to set the Can Bus speed appropriately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">protocol<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The display supports Can Bus 2.0a and 2.0b \u2013 Base frame format (11bit) or Extended frame format (29bit).&nbsp;Based on this protocol, the display supports&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canchecked.de\/help\/obd2\/\">OBD2<\/a>&nbsp;, UDS and TP2.0 via Can Bus.&nbsp;For this, the display requires the appropriate firmware (&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canchecked.de\/help\/mfd28-mfd32-mfd32s-mfa28-update-softwareaktualisierung\/\">update\/software update<\/a>&nbsp;)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><mark><strong>If none of the protocols mentioned USB data cable is used for the update.&nbsp;If there is no sound when you plug it in, you are probably using a charging cable.&nbsp;A suitable cable is always included in the delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The USB port on the display is very small and sensitive.&nbsp;Please exercise the utmost care here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the display is plugged in, it appears in the updater.&nbsp;Then click on &#8220;Upload&#8221; and select the hex file.&nbsp;The update starts automatically.&nbsp;Meanwhile, do not unplug the display and let the program run through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading alignwide has-text-align-center\" id=\"Analog\">ANALOG INPUTS<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>All of our displays (can be found under\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/canchecked.com.au\/?page_id=483\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"483\">Products\u00a0<\/a>) have analog inputs &#8211; i.e. 0-5V inputs, which can be used to connect such sensors.\u00a0The sensors cover a wide range of applications:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>boost pressure<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>exhaust back pressure<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lambda\/AFR*<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>oil pressure<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fuel pressure<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>flue gas temperature*<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Water temperature*<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Intake air temperature*<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Oil temperature*<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>* Additional electronics may be required<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Electrical connection<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ATTENTION: the total 5V power supply for all inputs together must not exceed the current of 1A.&nbsp;This is important to note!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>All work on the electrical system must be carried out with extreme caution and should only be carried out by trained personnel.&nbsp;CANchecked assumes no liability for damage to the vehicle or its components or to the display!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The display offers a supply line for 5V and ground, where the voltage supply of the sensors can be tapped.&nbsp;If the sensor already has a power supply (via the control unit or internally), only the ground cable needs to be connected to the sensor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 4 cables for the analog inputs must be connected to the signal output of the sensor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-element-caption\">analog inputs CANchecked display<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Linear sensors (e.g. pressure)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Here we describe the connection of linear 0-5V sensors such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>boost pressure<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>oil pressure<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fuel pressure<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Water pressure<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>external lambda controller<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Type K converter<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Distance sensors for chassis<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and much more.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These sensors are usually powered by 5V voltage, which can be taken directly from the display (pin A2).&nbsp;You also need ground (from display pin A6) and signal (on one of the pins A3, A4, A7, A8 on the display).&nbsp;You will find information on how to calibrate the sensor in the sensor data sheet.&nbsp;In our&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canchecked.de\/dss\">DSS<\/a>&nbsp;you can now add the analog inputs individually, if they are not already available in the \u201cTRI Editor\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First connect to the display via USB, confirm the pop-up window and go to the \u201cTRI Editor\u201d.&nbsp;Click on the desired analog inputs and select \u201cApply\u201d.&nbsp;If the selection fields are grayed out and you are with the mouse cursor over the sensor, it will be displayed in green for the sensors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.canchecked.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/Screenshot-2023-01-21-at-21.12.10.png?resize=486%2C317&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7510\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Add analog inputs<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Then click on \u201cDetails\u201d for the newly added sensor and make sure that it is set to \u201cMAP\u201d (other options here are \u201cOFF\u201d and \u201cNTC\u201d).<br>Here you can now rename the sensor, determine the number of decimal places and specify the 0V and 5V value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.canchecked.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/Screenshot-2023-01-21-at-21.03.40.png?resize=469%2C458&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7511\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Configure analog input<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>If other voltage values \u200b\u200b(usually 0.5V and 4.5V) are specified in the data sheet, use the \u201ccalculate\u201d button and the DSS will calculate the data for you.&nbsp;Click on \u201cOK\u201d and the values \u200b\u200bwill be applied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-image-7512\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Calculate 0V and 5V values<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you have completed the sensor configuration, click on \u201cApply\u201d in the popup and don\u2019t forget to permanently save the data on the display using \u201cSave to display\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">NTC sensors<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To connect NTC sensors, an additional resistor is required.&nbsp;The NTC sensor is connected to ground and the analog input of the display.&nbsp;Additionally, a 1K1 resistor (1000 Ohm, 1%, 0.25W) is connected between the analog input and 5V.<br>In the&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canchecked.de\/dbc2\/\">DSS<\/a>&nbsp;&nbsp;you import your TRI file from the SD card in the display and set the corresponding input to &#8220;NTC&#8221; (other options are &#8220;OFF&#8221; and &#8220;MAP&#8221;).&nbsp;With the &#8220;calculate&#8221; button you enter three pairs of values \u200b\u200b(temperature\/resistance).&nbsp;The fourth value (&#8220;pullup resistor&#8221;) indicates the resistance value in ohms (1000 = 1k ohms).<br>Don&#8217;t forget to activate your href=\"http:\/\/www.canchecked.de\/dbc2\/\">DSS .<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here you can edit and rename all sensors &#8211; including the analog inputs.&nbsp;&nbsp;Please pay attention&nbsp;to the&nbsp;&nbsp;<strong>maximum length of 15 .<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Smoothing of values<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If the analog values \u200b\u200bjump too quickly (values \u200b\u200b\u201cfidget\u201d) or the update rate is too slow\/inaccurate, the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canchecked.de\/dss\">DSS<\/a>&nbsp;can adjust this.&nbsp;Learn more in our Gen2
